Hair restoration is a minor procedure, and does not require extensive aftercare. We provide our patients detailed instructions about caring for new hair grafts so they can become firmly planted and viable. Aftercare involves the following basic steps:
Arrange a ride home from a friend or family member after the procedure.
Use over-the-counter pain medication as advised to manage any minor pain from the procedure.
Come to our clinic for your first follow-up the day after the procedure so we can wash the area for you and show you the correct way to shampoo the treated area over the following days.
Carefully follow our written instructions for aftercare so the transplanted hair follicles can become viable.
Avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days, after which you can resume your regular activities.
Avoid contact sports. The treated area should be free from contact so the transplanted follicles can set in the area. Never rub or touch the treated area, even if it itches. We will provide you solutions for itching or other minor discomfort you could experience.
Avoid being exposed to excess cold, heat, or excessive sweating for the first few days after treatment.
Sleep with extra pillows or in a semi-seated position (recliner) so your head is elevated.
